How to be Mentally Healthy in Today's Hectic Life
We all want to be healthy, physically healthy, not mentally healthy. But people don’t get that if you want to be physically healthy, you have to be mentally healthy because being mentally healthy is the secret key to physical well-being. Mental health ensures our physical health because if you aren’t mentally prepared, you can’t be physically healthy, so it all starts with your brain and mind. Here in this article, where I talk about “How to be physically healthy in this hectic life,” to unlock this fully, you need to firstly take care of your mental health. Our mental health and physical health are correlated, so we have to take care of both of them. So, your mental well-being connects you with your physical well-being; it’s like a dot that connects with another dot.
What is Mental Health
According to The World Health Organization (WHO), mental health is a state of mental well-being that enables people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well, and work well, and contribute to their community. It is an integral component of health and well-being that underpins our individual and collective abilities to make decisions, build relationships, and shape the world we live in. Mental health is a basic human right. And it is crucial to personal, community, and socio-economic development.
We will try to go through our day and figure out our choke points where we mess up our mental well-being. Our main objective will be to make our brain do the stuff that we want and not get stimulated and emotional with our daily stuff.
Avoid social media scrolling after waking up
We all get into the temptation of scrolling through our media after waking up. Trust me, bro, it is the worst thing you can do to your brain. It just messes up your brain and makes you less productive throughout the day.
Stop thinking about food frequently
One of our primary goals is to reduce food intake because eating less and thinking less about food gives you clarification and keeps your mind focused on the work you want to get done.
Keep your thoughts positive about people
When we are at work or college, we usually get offended when people slightly mock us or make fun of us. But we have to be strong; we need to be patient about their mockery and not hold a grudge against them because it will kill you inside. All you need to do is keep your mind free from negative stuff; in the end, they will suffer for their mockery, not you. It is just a waste of time to hold a grudge against someone or something.
Connect to Nature
We live in an era of technology that we barely have time for nature; everywhere we are surrounded by artificial stuff. Throughout history, humans were always close to nature, but now we are detached from nature, and that is terrifying. So, you need to keep some free time to connect with nature; this will immensely improve your mental health. Connecting with nature means you don’t have to go to a forest but go to a place with trees or greenery for a walk and observe how the wind blows, how the trees look, just being mindful with nature.
Switch off everything
Remember, your biggest supporter is you; nobody will come to take care of your life. This life is 100% your responsibility, so switch off everything at a specific time of your day and start being mindful about the day, about the decisions you made, about the decisions you are going to make so that your mind is sharp and clear. Being mindful is one of the best ways to improve your mental health.
I always strongly try to focus on my mental health because without focusing on our mental health, we can’t focus on other important stuff. These few steps will help you keep your mental health in check. After your mental health is on track, you can easily focus on your physical well-being.
